OSCEOLA – An area racing talent is making a name for himself on a unique stage.

Warsaw resident Tyler Kindle-Olinger is currently on the fast track to stardom with his exploits at Osceola Dragway. In his third year of drag racing, he runs the 08 gauge chassis, which will take him down the 1/8th-mile track in under eight seconds, reaching speeds of 80-plus miles per hour.

As of the weekend, Kindle-Olinger was third in points in his racing class.

Not too shabby for someone who is 13 years old.

Kindle-Olinger, this past Sunday, raced in the Ironman, which is considered by some as the most sought-after prize in IHRA Drag Racing. Held twice a year, the Ironman is designed to create excitement in bracket racing programs, which includes the drivers working at Osceola Dragway. At the Ironman competition, Kindle-Olinger won his class with a top pass of 7.99 seconds, hitting 80.96 miles per hour.

Currently, Kindle-Olinger is listed in third in his Junior Dragster Class points standings with 14 points, tied with Kyler Martz. Leading the class is Zavie Derbeck with 19 points. The class is comprised of racers between six and 18 years of age.

There will be a second Ironman race series in Osceola on July 24.
